Minor repairs to ceramic brake discs

Delamination / Friction Layer peeling off

  • the area is repaired by embedding friction layer material there again
this is done at high temperature, the material forms a reactive bond with the core of the brake disc
  • during processing, the entire brake disc will be overhauled, friction layers are repaired, fastening elements are overhauled and replaced if necessary, the unprotected edges of the brakedisc are given oxidation protection

Renewal of the fastening elements

  • The brake disc is removed from the bell, sleeves are derusted, blasted and cleaned, bolts are replaced, pot is refitted and centered
  • Fittings that have been torn off or have become unusable due to contact corrosion or material fatigue must be replaced. Often the connecting elements, the so-called “floaters” or “sleeves”, also corrode permanently into the ceramic material, which can ultimately lead to dangerous cracks. These floaters must transfer the torque evenly from the brake disk to the hub, which is only possible if they are smooth and can move, also they have to compensate the heat-expansion which is not possible any more as soon they stuck. the expansion will crack the ceramic material of the disc and leads to a total loss.
  • Customers also often complain about noises caused by these connecting elements. We can help here too.Rebrake can remove them and replace them with new floaters, thus preserving an older ceramic brake disk. We also offer fitting kits for almost all brake discs. Please send us your request.
